Nagpur: Potable water flowed onto the road outside Buddha Vihar in Trisharan Nagar for two days even as residents endured a water crisis following a pipeline leakage.Local residents presumed that the supply had been disrupted due to planned water cuts, but water flowing onto the road didn’t grab their attention immediately. A local automobile mechanic was the first to spot the leakage. The mechanic told TOI that he spotted water flowing onto the road on Friday morning and came across the problem again later at night. He recorded a video to highlight the water wastage and bring the issue to the attention of the authorities. The leakage surfaced when the main water valve was switched on by the Orange City Water (OCW) team, said the mechanic. The mechanic raised the issue with the local corporator Nidhi Telgote, who told TOI that the water pipeline was damaged during the laying of a sewage trunk line, possibly by an excavator. The damaged section was initially repaired, but the leakage reportedly resurfaced on Friday night. “The second leak occurred at an inconvenient hour, making it difficult to deploy a repair team immediately. The pipeline was repaired first thing the following morning, and the work included laying mud over the repaired section,” Telgote said. She has filed an official complaint against the contractor.
