Buxar: The body of a 30-year-old man with a suspected gunshot wound was found in roadside grass near a canal close to Samhar village in Dumraon police station area on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Mulayam Yadav, a resident of Samhar village. He was the youngest of three brothers and was unmarried.According to police, passersby spotted the body and alerted them. A deep wound near the temple raised suspicion that he had been shot, while flattened grass around the body suggested a possible scuffle.The victim’s father, Udaynarayan alias Vakil Yadav, told police that Mulayam had a dispute with some youths from Navadera on Friday. Police also recovered a bracelet from the spot that did not belong to the deceased. An FSL team was called to examine the spot and collect evidence.Police suspect that a scuffle may have preceded the killing. One of Mulayam’s slippers was found about 200 metres from the body, while the other slipper and a gamchha were recovered around 100 metres away.Preliminary information suggests that Mulayam was travelling to Dumraon on his brother-in-law’s motorcycle to buy supplies when the incident occurred. Police are probing several possible motives, including a personal dispute and a land-related conflict, but no motive has been established so far.Dumraon SHO Sanjay Kumar Sinha, a district intelligence unit (DIU) team and other police personnel reached the spot after being alerted.Dumraon SDPO Sameer Kumar Singh said a police team was dispatched after the incident was reported and further investigation was underway.
