Lucknow: The Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to provide two free gas cylinders to beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Scheme during 2026-27.Under the scheme, announced by chief minister Yogi Adityanath ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls, govt has been giving one free cylinder before Diwali and one before Holi.In the first phase, govt will distribute free refills from Oct to Dec 2026, while the second phase will take place from Jan to Mar 2027. The estimated financial burden on the state govt under this scheme will be Rs 2,142.78 crore.A govt spokesperson said that the decision had resulted in an increase in the use of clean fuel by beneficiaries. “The scheme will only benefit ACTC beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Yojana whose bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar and whose Aadhaar is authenticated,” the official said.
