Vadodara: A 60-year-old farmer was killed in a crocodile attack in the Vishwamitri river near Paldi village in Waghodia on Thursday afternoon.The deceased, identified as Ramesh Bhaliya, owned farmland near the river. According to local residents, he went into the river when a crocodile lurking nearby attacked him. Although he tried to save himself, the reptile dragged him into deeper waters.Some locals later spotted his body in the river and alerted police, who rushed to the spot. Fire brigade personnel also reached the village to retrieve the body. After several hours, Bhaliya’s body was recovered from the river.Vishwamitri river, which flows through Vadodara and its surrounding areas, is home to hundreds of crocodiles. Authorities have conducted awareness campaigns in the past, urging residents to avoid entering the river and to maintain a safe distance from the reptiles.
