Kanpur: A minor e-rickshaw driver was allegedly caught stealing submersible pipes from an under-construction house in Sanigwan, Chakeri, on Thursday night.According to police, house owner Shahnawaz Khan, who runs a welding shop, received information about the theft around 8.30 pm and reached the property along with local residents.There, he found the accused removing pipes from inside the house. The minor allegedly tried to flee but was caught by the owner and local residents.Khan said several pipes had already been removed from the submersible, while a number of iron tools were found at the spot.The minor had allegedly arrived in an e-rickshaw and was preparing to load the pipes and other goods into it when residents caught him.After being informed, Chakeri police reached the house and took the minor to the police station. Khan lodged a complaint on Thursday night.He alleged that goods worth around Rs 10,000 had also been stolen from his under-construction house about two months ago.The acting station house officer said the minor was being questioned and further action would be taken based on the investigation.
