Thiruvananthapuram: The second session of the 16th Kerala legislative assembly will be held from Oct 12 to 29. The session will see two bills tabled for reference to subject committees: Kerala Court Fees and Suits Valuation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (Amendment) Bill, 2026.Speaking to reporters on Friday, speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the house will meet for nine days; Oct 26 will see discussion and voting on supplementary demands for grants in the revised budget as well as excess demands for grants relating to five financial years beginning from 2017.The appropriation bills connected with the supplementary and excess demands will be taken up by the house on Oct 29, he added.On Oct 12, Kerala Court Fees and Suits Valuation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (Amendment) Bill will be introduced and the house will consider motions to refer them to the subject committee.He said the assembly will appropriately celebrate its platinum jubilee celebrations which will begin on Nov 1, in connection with Kerala Piravi. On that day, a reunion has been planned at Sankaranarayanan Thampi Hall with the participation of former speakers, deputy speakers, former members, former assembly secretaries and assembly staff, he said.He said Kerala Legislature International Literary Festival (5th edition) is planned to be held in the assembly from Jan 7 to 13, 2027.The key handover ceremony of the newly completed 60-flat Pamba Block for MLAs will be held on Oct 26. With this, it will be possible to provide suitable accommodation to all members.
