Daltonganj: A criminal case has been filed against three street vendors in Latehar for allegedly obstructing govt officers of carrying out an eviction drive with Latehar Nagar Panchayat limits on Oct 7.Raj Kumar Verma, city manager at the civic body, filed a complaint with Latehar police against Sophia Parween, Raju Khan and Pintu Prajapati. The trio had allegedly encroached govt land near Govt Middle School for Girls and were selling fruits and fruit juice from their carts. They allegedly obstructed prevented public servants from performing their duties. Verma sought legal action against them.“The complaint is being investigated,” sub-divisional police officer Sandip Kumar Gupta.On Oct 7, a civic body team comprising junior engineers and revenue inspectors was removing encroachments on Oct 7 when the accused allegedly interfered with its work.The accused however claimed that the officers took away their crates of sweet limes and bananas and a juice mixer and flouted norms by not providing them with a seizure list. Latehar deputy commissioner Sandip Kumar said, “The administration is aware of the incident. The encroachers must vacate govt land.”
