Kanpur: District magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar, municipal commissioner Arpit Upadhyay and chief development officer Abhinav J Jain conducted a late-night inspection of various parts of the city on Wednesday to review garbage collection, sanitation and civic amenities.The officials began the inspection around 10 pm and visited Narona Crossing, Express Road and other areas. During the inspection, the DM directed officials to ensure that garbage was collected immediately after shops and markets closed at night. He also ordered deployment of additional vehicles and sanitation workers wherever required The DM expressed displeasure over the accumulation of garbage at a vulnerable spot on Express Road and directed officials to clean the entire stretch within three days. He said a follow-up inspection would be conducted after three days and warned that action would be taken against officials if negligence was found. Officials were directed to eliminate the garbage-prone point near Ghasiyari Mandi and shift the accumulated waste to the nearby transfer station. Municipal commissioner Arpit Upadhyay directed officials to take necessary steps for construction of CC roads on both sides of Express Road. He also ordered immediate repair of faulty streetlights The DM directed officials to curb dumping of waste at night and ensure effective sanitation arrangements. He further instructed that the garbage-prone spot be cleaned, with benches installed for public use and wall paintings created to improve its appearance.
