Chandigarh: Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday hit out at BJP over the recent CBI searches in Punjab, including at his ‘camp office’, saying no raid would uncover “even a rupee” of corruption.Replying to a question about opposition’s demand that the CM’s OSD, Rajbir Singh Ghuman, should face CBI, Mann said, “We are not going anywhere. We are ready for any probe if we receive a formal summons through a proper channel from the CBI or any other agency… We have no corruption money in our homes.”On Thursday, reports had appeared that CBI had summoned Ghuman after registering an FIR on Oct 5. However, he did not appear before the agency on Wednesday. A CMO official said no summons had been served on Ghuman either physically or by email.Mann said that he was not afraid of any investigation “We have nothing to hide. We are accountable to the people of Punjab and will continue to work for them,” he said.Hitting out at BJP over the CBI raid at his camp office, Mann said it signalled that Punjab elections will be held on time. He accused BJP of launching its election campaign in Punjab through central investigative agencies.Mann questioned CBI’s swift action in conducting the searches shortly after high court ordered the case to be handed over to the central agency.“BJP is trying to create fear and tarnish the image of an elected govt through central investigative agencies. But no matter how many raids they conduct, they will not find even a single rupee of corruption with us. The same pattern has been seen in other states around election time. Raids were conducted in Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh before elections, and now BJP is adopting the same approach in Punjab,” Mann said. The CM said people of Punjab had repeatedly rejected politics based on fear and intimidation. “They can conduct raids, send agencies and create pressure, but they cannot raid the hearts of Punjabis or silence their voice. People of Punjab will continue to stand with truth and development,” he said.Taking a swipe at previous govts, Mann said: “The era of multi-crore scams and those taking shares in buses, hotels and other businesses is over. Those days are gone when politics was used for personal enrichment. Our govt is committed to transparent governance and will continue working for the welfare of ordinary Punjabis.”
