BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday alleged that there had been an attempt to honey-trap him after he became chief minister and said he had proof of who was behind the alleged attempts targeting him and his cabinet colleagues.Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Shivakumar said he had advised his cabinet colleagues to remain alert.Shivakumar did not provide further details about the alleged honey-trapping attempt and said he knows the “godfather” behind it.He also alleged that a major conspiracy was under way to fraudulently delete legitimate voters from electoral rolls, particularly those belonging to minority, Dalit and Backward Class communities.Shivakumar backed Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying he was doing a “great job” and that protecting voters was the responsibility of every opposition leader.“Rahul Gandhi is doing a great job, not for himself. It’s not for the Congress party. The right to vote is the right to live. What has happened across the entire country has already been exposed by the members of the Election Commission. It’s the country’s biggest conspiracy,” he said.Shivakumar claimed that tens of thousands of computerised Form 7 applications had been pre-printed at BJP headquarters, containing detailed voter information, before being distributed to local party cadres.“In my state, they tried to delete more than a lakh voters. Their application form seven was printed somewhere in the BJP headquarters. All computerised. The BJP local leader doesn’t know. Only minority Dalit backward class voters have been named,” he said.He further claimed that after his side filed a complaint, the forms were taken back from several Booth Level Officers (BLOs).“Now after we filed a complaint, they immediately approached many of the BLOs and took back the forms. They have taken back the forms. I am having a load of one bag full of this. Lakhs of such type of forms they have submitted. Is this not a crime?”
