Chandigarh: A delegation of Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De), including Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali, Faridkot MP Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa and party’s parliament board convener Kabal Singh, met Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Tuesday, raising concerns over the delay in the party’s registration and alleged political occupation of Punjab govt houses in Chandigarh.Ayali alleged that “calculated obstacles” were being created in the party’s registration despite it having two MPs and an MLA. The delegation’s meeting came after the Election Commission reportedly told the Delhi High Court last week that it had “certain apprehensions pertaining to national security” over registering the jailed MP Amritpal Singh-led party as an unrecognised political party.Ayali also alleged discrimination against Punjab and the Sikh community and accused the AAP government of exploiting Punjab’s financial resources. He sought Mann’s resignation and an immediate probe into the alleged political occupation of government housing in Chandigarh.Meanwhile, the party on Monday formed a three-member coordination panel to reach out to like-minded political, farm, labour, religious and social organisations for “Panthic Unity”. Sukhwinder Singh Agwan was appointed coordinator, with Pargat Singh Raiyya and Ranjit Singh Dhanoa as members.Ends
