T’puram: A fast track special court here sentenced a 43-year-old man to 47 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 32,000 for sexually assaulting his 15-year-old relative.The court presided over by Judge Anju Meera Birla said in default of paying the fine, he will have to undergo an additional three years and three months in prison.The incident occurred on May 24, 2025. According to the prosecution, the accused, who was also a neighbour of the boy, asked him to bring rice to his house to feed his chickens. When the boy arrived with the rice, the accused allegedly took him inside the house and sexually assaulted him. The incident took place when nobody else was at the house.When another person arrived at the house while the assault was taking place, the accused allegedly locked the boy inside a room and came out. Later, when the boy’s grandfather arrived looking for him, the accused allegedly told him that the boy had already left and sent him away. The accused then allegedly continued the assault.Fearing the accused, the boy did not initially disclose the incident. He later refused to go to the accused’s house when his family asked him to deliver items there. When questioned by his family, he disclosed the assault to his sister and they approached Valiyathura Police.Special public prosecutors R S Vijaya Mohan and Surabhi P appeared for the prosecution.
