Tanmay Baloda continued from where he left off in the first innings, adding four more wickets to his match tally to make it a 10-for. His spell of four for 26 put India under-19 in an advantageous position against Australia under-19 at the end of day two of the second multi-day Test here at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday.
Australia u-19 was 86 for four at stumps, trailing the hosts by 55 runs. India u-19 was earlier bowled out for 315 after taking a 141-run lead.
Despite India’s dominance, the day still belonged to leg-spinner Spencer Green, who finished with figures of seven for 110.
Green was Australia’s go-to weapon from the morning and got overnight batters Kushagra Ojha (29) and Yashbardhan Chauhan (52) out in consecutive overs. With only the odd ball turning, Aryan Yadav (30) and Manal Chauhan (34) were comfortable in rotating strike while finding the fence occasionally.
Post Lunch, Chauhan miscued Green while Thomas Vaseo rushed Aryan to clean him up. The leg-spinner then got Mohit Ulva and Ayaan Akram back-to-back.
But Abhiprai Biswas counter-attacked. He slog-swept his first ball for a six and took the aerial route over the fielders whenever possible. He brought up his fifty off just 36 balls. However, Biswas missed a straighter one to give Green his seventh scalp.
India added 42 more to its lead through the last-wicket partnership before Baloda put his side in a commanding spot with the ball, heading into the third day.
The scores: Australia u-19 174 & 86/4 in 26 overs (Tanmay Baloda 4/26) vs. India u-19 315 in 78.4 overs (Yashbardhan Chauhan 52, Abhiprai Biswas 73, Spencer Green 7/110).
