Srinagar, Oct 6: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness intermittent spells of rain and snowfall over the coming days, with generally cloudy weather, thunderstorms and gusty winds expected at several places, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The weather office said light rain, with light snowfall over higher reaches, is likely at many places on October 6, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
On October 7, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, though a brief spell of light rain may occur at a few places. On October 8, generally cloudy weather with light rain and light snowfall over higher reaches is likely at scattered places.
The MET Centre has forecast generally dry weather on October 9, with a brief spell of light rain possible at a few places towards the evening.
Another spell of unsettled weather is expected on October 10, when light rain and light snowfall over higher reaches, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, are likely at many places, particularly during the morning and forenoon hours.
The weather is expected to remain generally dry from October 11 to October 13, with another spell of generally cloudy weather, light rain, light snowfall over higher reaches, thunderstorms and gusty winds likely at many places on October 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, the MET Centre has advised people to take precautions during the wet spell. Farmers have been advised to ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy between October 6 and 10.
The advisory also urged people to stay away from loose structures, electric wires and old trees during periods of gusty winds and thunderstorms.
