Lucknow: The southwest monsoon has retreated from Uttar Pradesh (UP), but a fresh weather system may bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of the state over the next few days.India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a Western Disturbance (WD) over Punjab and Haryana, along with a cyclonic circulation over Bihar and eastern UP, is influencing weather conditions. Moisture from a system over the Bay of Bengal is also expected to support rainfall activity.The systems are likely to trigger rain at isolated places, with thunderstorms and gusty winds in some areas. Eastern and central UP are expected to see more activity initially, with rainfall likely to extend to western parts of the state as the WD moves closer. Isolated hailstorms are also possible.Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at Regional Meteorological Centre, said the rain activity is expected in parts of the state.Meanwhile, in Lucknow, the day began with bright sunshine on Monday, but cloud cover increased towards the evening. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees above normal, and a minimum of 24.8 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above normal, with rainfall activity recorded in traces.The forecast for Tuesday is partly cloudy skies with the possibility of thundery development and very light rain. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 33 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.Weather officials said most parts of the state may remain dry, but the movement of the systems could increase rainfall activity in the coming days.
