New Delhi: Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries will no longer be able to avail themselves of fresh treatment at 99 healthcare facilities across Delhi-NCR, as their empanelment under the scheme has not been renewed.
The facilities, including hospitals, dental clinics and diagnostic centres, have been de-empanelled from the CGHS panel with effect from Sept 16. As a result, no new CGHS patient registration, admission or fresh pre-authorisation can be processed at these institutions. The order was issued last week.
Patients already undergoing treatment, however, will continue to receive benefits. Those admitted before Sept 16 can complete their treatment under the CGHS credit facility. The healthcare organisations have been directed not to deny treatment or discharge such patients prematurely due to the de-empanelment.
Fresh patients seeking admission, treatment or any new CGHS-authorised service at these facilities will have to approach other empanelled healthcare organisations.
CGHS has also advised beneficiaries who are undergoing treatment or investigations at these facilities, but are not covered under the existing-patient protection, to shift to another empanelled centre.
The list of de-empanelled facilities spans Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Sonipat. Among them are BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences, Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, SG Hospital, Medstar Hospital, Umkal Hospital and Yashroop Hospital.
The de-empanelment does not imply deficiencies in treatment or patient safety. According to the CGHS order, the facilities were removed because their empanelment was not renewed. The order also allows them to apply afresh after meeting the prescribed criteria.
CGHS had earlier extended the validity of existing empanelments till Sept 15 as part of the empanelment process under its Hospital Engagement Module/Transaction Management System 2.0 system. Facilities whose empanelment was not renewed were de-empanelled from Sept 16.
