LUCKNOW: A major fire broke out on Tuesday at a three-storey makeshift labour accommodation outside Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, triggering panic as towering flames and thick smoke were visible from several kilometres away.The incident occurred around 6.50am.The temporary structure, constructed with PVC panels, was being used to house labourers engaged in ongoing airport development projects. Officials said the accommodation had 33 rooms, with 11 rooms on each floor, and could house around 500 workers deployed in round-the-clock shifts.The blaze spread rapidly through the highly combustible PVC-panel structure, engulfing the camp within minutes. Airport security personnel rushed to the spot, secured the area and initiated emergency response measures as firefighters began efforts to contain the flames.Firefighting teams from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, along with personnel from the Lucknow Fire Department, jointly carried out the operation. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries or casualties were reported. Officials said all occupants were safely evacuated in time.The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
