How organisations should redesign roles and structures as artificial intelligence takes on more work emerged as a key discussion among senior HR leaders at XLRI’s Metamorphose 2026, held on September 25 and 26.
The second edition of the conclave brought together HR leaders from more than 80 organisations, with discussions covering AI, leadership, workforce skills and changes in the workplace.
A session led by McKinsey examined the implications of Agentic AI for organisational structures, roles and governance. The discussion looked at how greater use of AI systems could change the way responsibilities are assigned and accountability is managed within organisations.
Another discussion, featuring Sandeep Bakhshi of ICICI Bank, focused on leadership experiences and the decisions that shaped the institution, including the role of grit, integrity and long-term thinking.
The conclave also saw the release of a white paper prepared by the Centre for HRD at XLRI. The paper draws on inputs from more than 24 HR leaders across four mini-conferences covering work, workforce, workplace and the evolving role of CHROs.
It also includes survey findings from more than 160 senior HR and business professionals and examines how organisations and the HR function may evolve amid changes in technology and the workplace.
Metamorphose was first held in Jaipur in 2024 as part of XLRI’s 75th anniversary celebrations. The 2026 edition focused on the challenges organisations face as technology changes job roles, leadership requirements and workforce skills.
