Lucknow: Declaring that Muslims are not the “inherited property” of any political party, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday sharpened his attack on both the BJP and the Samajwadi Party, alleging a political “fixed match” between them.Addressing a rally at Bhinga Bazaar in Shravasti ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Owaisi accused the BJP of targeting Muslim religious institutions and said that the SP continued to seek Muslim votes without adequately representing the community’s concerns.“Muslims are not anyone’s inherited property. We are human beings, not just voters,” Owaisi said, asserting that parties taking Muslim support for granted would getting a befitting reply in elections. The AIMIM chief claimed the BJP govt acted against mosques, madrassas, graveyards and shrines, while opposition parties failed to oppose it. He alleged that several madrassas were shut down and that religious sites, including graveyards and shrines, faced demolition drives.Questioning the SP’s role, Owaisi said its leaders should have stood with affected families and opposed such actions.Accusing the BJP and SP of playing complementary political roles, Owaisi said the ruling party targeted Muslim institutions while the SP continued to bank on Muslim votes. He rejected allegations that AIMIM divided opposition votes, saying the party had carved out its own political space and would continue to fight independently.During the rally, Owaisi projected former BSP leader Haji Daddan Khan as AIMIM’s likely candidate from the Bhinga Assembly constituency for the 2027 polls.
