Kolkata: St. Xavier’s Institution, Panihati, celebrated its diamond jubilee along with its annual prize distribution ceremony on Sept 11. The celebration was held on the school premises, uniting thousands of students, parents, teachers, alumni and school authorities. The chief guest was urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul.The event began with a spiritual dance performance and a ‘Peace Mantra’, followed by ‘Vande Mataram’ and the National Anthem. Students captivated the audience with a stirring patriotic dance performance. ‘Anandamath’, a theatrical excerpt from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s work, was also staged as part of the cultural programme.The chief guest, Agnimitra Paul, was warmly felicitated by secretary Dyutiman Bandyopadhyay, alongside other distinguished guests. The ceremony commenced on an auspicious note as the chief guest and other dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp, set to the soulful backdrop of the school song written by principal Lipika Ghosh.Commending the students, the chief guest noted, “The flawless performance of ‘Vande Mataram’ highlighted the students’ artistic flair, proving that these ICSE and ISC toppers excel as brilliantly on stage as they do in academics. The students have been doing extremely well academically, and I want to thank all the school members, authorities and teachers for providing such wonderful guidance and an environment where students can flourish.”Principal Lipika Ghosh remarked, “We are extremely proud of our students. Education at SXI Panihati is not just about results; it is about building good human beings.”Excitement reached its peak as the grand award distribution commenced, honouring an impressive cohort of 38 All-India rankers, featuring 20 ICSE and 18 ISC achievers. Around 10 students from the past 15 years who achieved top ranks were also felicitated. Nine students were recognised for their creative writing contributions to the school magazine.Highlighting the students’ achievements, the secretary said, “The celebration is aimed at boosting self-confidence of our meritorious students so that their success inspires the upcoming generation.”
