Mangaluru: The District Congress Committee (DCC) has launched the second phase of its grassroots organisational restructuring drive, ‘Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan 2’, aimed at strengthening the party organisation at block, panchayat and booth levels ahead of the upcoming local body and assembly elections.Addressing a news conference on Saturday, DKCC president Padmaraj R Poojary said the initiative is being undertaken under the directions of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).The district campaign is being overseen by a three-member KPCC observer panel comprising Amshumanth KP, former Chikkamagaluru DCC president and current Bhadra CADA chairperson; H M Satish, former Chikkamagaluru ZP president and former state backward classes commission vice-president; and Sadashiva, KPCC member and former ZP member.Amshumanth said the exercise would cover all eight assembly constituencies and 17 Block Congress committees in the district. “Under the guidance of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and the vision of Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the ‘Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan’ is being executed across the nation. Following KPCC president B K Hariprasad’s directives, we are here to inspect and reinforce party organisation from the grassroots, making it cadre-based and transparent,” he said.Poojary said the party had decided to move towards a completely cadre-based organisation.“The party high command resolved at the Belagavi session to transform Congress into a completely cadre-based organisation. Completing five years in a post does not guarantee automatic extension or replacement; those who have earned the genuine confidence of ground-level party workers will be entrusted with responsibilities,” he said. The review will begin at Kadaba and Sullia blocks on Nov 8, followed by Puttur, Vittal and Uppinangady on Nov 9.
