Gurgaon: Police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl in Sohna. The accused, a resident of the same village as the girl, was arrested by a team from City Sohna police station on Sept 26.According to a complaint filed by the girl’s mother the following day, the incident took place on Sept 24 when the girl was returning home from school. The accused allegedly asked her to get on his motorcycle and persisted until she agreed. While riding towards the village, he allegedly engaged her in an inappropriate conversation before molesting her.Police registered a case under Sections 75(2) (sexual harassment) and 351(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, at City Sohna police station.“During the investigation, police traced and arrested the accused from Sohna on Sept 26. The motorcycle allegedly used in the offence was also recovered from his possession,” said Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson. Police also inspected the spot where the alleged offence took place to look for CCTV footage.The accused was produced before a court on Sept 27 and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway, police said.In a separate incident last week, a 42-year-old man was detained in Malda, West Bengal, for allegedly molesting his 17-year-old stepdaughter. The girl alleged that he behaved indecently with her at their home, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sector 29 police station. A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Pocso Act.
