The two leaders addressed a joint press conference here in the presence of several of their party MPs, including Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen. Abhishek alleged that the deletions, including cases categorised as ‘logical discrepancy’, were greater than the eventual winning margin in around 150 seats and claimed these constituencies were “effectively handed to BJP through this process”.
“I challenge the Election Commission to prove us wrong by putting the complete records in public domain and allowing independent examination of the process,” he said.
Mamata also targeted chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, calling him “Vanish Kumar”, questioning the statutory immunity provided to the CEC and election commissioners under the 2023 law. “He made people’s rights vanish. How can I forgive him? It is the people of India who will not forgive him,” she said.
She alleged that the special intensive revision (SIR) had disproportionately affected constituencies won by her party.
