Times News NetworkKanpur: Police conducted an extensive inspection of cafes and restaurants in the Central Zone on Wednesday to enforce court directions prohibiting illegal hookah bars.The drive was supervised by deputy commissioner of police (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava and additional deputy commissioner of police Archana Singh. Srivastava and Swaroop Nagar police inspected hookah equipment, prohibited flavours and other materials.Officers also reviewed CCTV cameras, fire safety equipment and parking arrangements. Operators were directed not to run illegal hookah bars and to comply strictly with court orders. They were instructed to ensure police verification of employees, check customers’ identity cards and immediately report suspicious activity to local police. Violations would invite legal action under COTPA Act and relevant sections of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.Police from Kakadeo, Chamanganj, Kohna, Beconganj, Anwarganj and Bajaria police stations also conducted foot patrols in major markets, crowded areas and sensitive locations to maintain law and order.The officers checked suspicious people and vehicles, interacted with shopkeepers and residents, and issued instructions on security arrangements.
