MUMBAI: At the INDIA bloc meeting on Wednesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said it was important for all parties to come together for a larger movement against Election Commission (EC) and Centre.Uddhav, who joined the INDIA bloc meeting online, reportedly questioned Congress’s decision to hold separate protests against EC, and suggested all opposition parties should instead organise a joint protest under the INDIA bloc banner. Uddhav said Congress’s ‘Ekla Cholo’ policy is not right.“It is not right for parties to hold separate protests or agitations. In Maharashtra, Congress is holding protests on its own,” Uddhav reportedly said at the meeting.“All opposition parties should come together and protest to demand the removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Opposition should not hold rallies separately, . Also, the INDIA bloc should hold a big protest. Everyone should come together under one flag. It is not right for the parties to organize separate protests,” Uddhav reportedly said at the meeting.Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have announced a joint protest march against EC in Mumbai on Oct 4. Congress has already held its protests seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s removal this week in Mumbai and across the state.Interestingly, after facing flak for announcing a protest without discussing it with other opposition parties from the MVA, the two have begun reaching out to Congress and other MVA parties to join the Oct 4 protest. In fact, Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that Raj was also in touch with Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi for this. Raut said Rahul Gandhi and Raj were in touch. “Why shouldn’t they? All opposition parties are talking to one another on this issue,” he said.
