GURGAON: A fast-track special POCSO court in Nuh has sentenced a man to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor with an intellectual disability after allegedly taking the child to a forested area on the pretext of luring him away.Additional sessions judge Dr Ashu Sanjeev Tinjann convicted Ram Prasad alias Gangwa on September 25 and pronounced the sentence on Wednesday.The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict. In case of default in payment, he will undergo an additional three months’ simple imprisonment.According to police, the accused had taken the minor to a forest area, where he sexually assaulted the child.The offence came to light after the child’s family questioned him about the incident and he disclosed what had happened.Firozpur Jhirka Sadar police subsequently registered a case against the accused, collected evidence and arrested him before producing him before the court.The court convicted the accused under two provisions and awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment along with the fine.The case was investigated by Firozpur Jhirka Sadar police and prosecuted before the fast-track special POCSO court.
