Patna: In two separate incidents of chain snatching on Wednesday morning, gold chains worth over Rs 10 lakh were stolen in Kurji and Gardanibagh localities.The first incident took place in Kurji under Digha police station area around 8am, when a man was outside his house. A young man and a woman arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly snatched the chain from his neck before they fled from the spot. The chain was valued at around Rs 7 lakh.Digha SHO Avnish Kumar reached the spot after being informed and enquired about the incident. “Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the two suspects and trace their route. Statement of the man is being recorded and raids underway to nab the accused,” he added.The second incident was reported from Gardanibagh area, where contractor Rakesh Singh was buying vegetables after returning from his morning walk. Two people on a motorcycle approached him and the woman pillion rider allegedly snatched his chain, worth around Rs 5 lakh, before fleeing. Singh and people nearby tried to catch them, but they escaped.The officers at Gardanibagh said that the chain-snatching incident took place at 6am, when Rakesh was buying vegetables in Kacchi Talab area. “We are examining the CCTV cameras to identify and arrest the accused,” the officer told TOI.The incident comes days after police in Kankarbagh arrested seven people, including two identified as Bunty and Babli, in connection with a chain-snatching gang.
