Aizawl: Mizoram transport minister Vanlalhlana on Tuesday flagged off two 21-seater buses from the transport office premises at Chaltlang in Aizawl, marking the launch of an inter-state bus service between Sairang (Aizawl) and Lamka (Churachandpur) in Manipur.Regular operations on the route are scheduled to begin on Thursday.The flag-off ceremony was attended by H Ginzalala, MLA and adviser to CM for technical matters; members of the Mizoram State Transport Authority; transport department officials; and representatives of VK Tawna Travels.Speaking at the event, Vanlalhlana said unity among Zo kindred tribes living across different hill areas was important. He said Mizoram serves as a central home for kindred communities and expressed concern over the travel difficulties faced by community members because of the ethnic strife in Manipur.The minister said he hoped the new service would ease travel between Manipur and Mizoram and help strengthen brotherhood, harmony and unity.Ginzalala said strong connectivity across sectors is a key part of development. He said the crisis in Manipur had strengthened the bond of solidarity between Mizos in Mizoram and Zo communities in Manipur. He also urged travellers to uphold Mizoram’s reputation as a state that respects law and order.At the event, Siamnunlian Valte, CEO of VK Tawna Travels, briefed the gathering on the operational details of the service. R Lalrammawia, director of the transport department, highlighted regulatory and logistical aspects of the inter-state route.Under VK Tawna inter-state bus service, two 21-seater buses will operate daily between Lamka in Manipur and Sairang in Mizoram. The route covers about 360 km and is expected to take around 12 hours. The fare has been fixed at Rs 2,500 per passenger.
