Patna: The Patna high court quashed a divorce decree granted by a Bhagalpur family court judge after the case was heard and decided on a single day on Oct 18, 2017. A division bench of justices Bibek Chaudhuri and Rana Vikram Singh allowed the wife’s appeal.The HC expressed concern over the proceedings, noting lawyers had abstained from court work since Oct 8, 2017, protesting the murder of a local advocate. The court said the trial conducted in their absence and disposed of on the same day was akin to an “unnatural sprint”.The court also rejected the husband’s claim that his wife’s posting in Patna amounted to matrimonial cruelty. The couple had married on April 22, 2015, and had a daughter.
