Agartala: State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday ordered repolling in three seats — two under the Gamaria ADC Village Committee and one under the Paharpur ADC Village Committee — on Oct 3.Elections to the village committees of the tribal council, held on Monday across the district, recorded 81.01% turnout. After receiving complaints seeking repolling in some seats, SEC held a meeting and assessed the situation based on reports from district election officers (DEOs) and returning officers (ROs).“After assessing the ground, SEC on Tuesday ordered repolling in three seats — two under Gamaria ADC Village Committee and one under Paharpur ADC Village Committee in Amarpur subdivision. The repolling will be held on Oct 3,” SEC Secretary Anurag Sen told reporters.Sources said BJP demanded repolling in two polling booths under Gamaria ADC Village Committee, where a Tipra Motha candidate was shot at by unidentified miscreants on polling day.Under Paharpur ADC Village Committee, SEC ordered repolling due to an alleged printing error involving an independent candidate’s election symbol. The candidate campaigned asking voters to support him on the ‘referee’ symbol, but the ballot paper reportedly carried the ‘flute’ symbol against his name.Counting of votes is scheduled for Oct 5.
