Gorakhpur: World Heart Day 2026 was observed at AIIMS Gorakhpur on Tuesday with the theme ‘Don’t Miss a Beat’, focusing on cardiovascular health, preventive care and timely intervention.The programme, held under the leadership of executive director of AIIMS Gorakhpur, Maj Gen Vibha Dutta, was jointly organised by the College of Nursing and the department of Cardiology under the guidance of principal, College of Nursing, Prof Renuka K.Faculty members of the department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, along with assistant professors, Cardiology department, Ashutosh Prasad Tripathi and Mohd Atif Khan, coordinated the programme.Nursing students staged an informative skit highlighting the impact of unhealthy lifestyle practices on heart health. A basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstration was also conducted for patients, attendants and members of the public, focusing on early recognition of cardiac emergencies and prompt initiation of CPR.The programme received an encouraging response.
