COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police have announced temporary traffic diversions on arterial roads in view of the visit of chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday. The CM will arrive here en route to Dharapuram, where he will be campaigning for P Sathyabama who is the TVK candidate for the Oct 6 byelection.Buses entering Coimbatore city from Salem, Erode and Tirupur are restricted from passing through Neelambur, Chinniyampalayam and the airport on the Avinashi Road. Instead, these vehicles must divert at Neelambur and take L&T Bypass via Chinthamanipudur, Ondipudur and Singanallur to enter the city. Light vehicles from the Neelambur side are also advised to go via L&T Bypass, Chinthamanipudur, Ondipudur and Singanallur to reach the city.Vehicles exiting the city via the Avinashi Road must make a U-turn at Lakshmi Mills Junction and proceed via Puliyakulam, Ramanathapuram and Singanallur to reach L&T Bypass.Light motor vehicles exiting via the Avinashi Road and the V K Road should take a diversion through the Masakalipalayam Road to reach Singanallur. Vehicles arriving via Avinashi Road / Hope College Junction must make a U-turn at Tidel Park Junction and proceed via the Kamarajar Road to Singanallur.Heavy vehicles heading towards the Avinashi Road from Kalapatti Junction must divert at Kalapatti Junction and proceed via Thennampalayam.Heavy vehicles approaching the Avinashi Road from the Goldwins Road should turn right at the Housing Unit Road / Maruti Bakery Junction and proceed via the Veeriyampalayam Road to reach Kalapatti Junction.Passengers are advised to reach the airport at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled travel time. Parking for call taxis and private vehicles on the airport premises will not be permitted.Entry of trucks into the city is prohibited between 7am and 9pm on Wednesday.
