Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) municipal commissioner Yogendra Prasad on Sunday reviewed security, lighting, cleanliness, barricading, approach roads, drinking water, power supply, and other civic amenities at the ghats. He directed officials and engineers to complete all work in a time-bound manner before immersion.Durga Puja organising committees have submitted representations to deputy commissioner (DC) Rajiv Ranjan, seeking repairs of routes to immersion ghats, besides ensuring cleanliness and other facilities for the Puja rituals, over the past few days.Inspecting the ghats, Prasad said, “The move aimed at understanding the ground situation and strategise sanitation drive along with repair of the amenities. Special instructions have been issued to officials to ensure adequate lighting, strong barricading, and safe movement of the crowd. Officials have been asked to maintain surveillance and coordinate among themselves during immersion and remain prepared for emergencies.”“Durga Puja is a grand affair requiring large-scale preparedness, and separate teams are being formed for dedicated work. The civic body will involve TSUISL to repair potholed roads and defunct streetlights, trim overgrown branches, and fix dangling overhead wires, if any,” he added.Prioritising sanitation, Prasad directed his officials to ensure immediate cleaning of the ghats and waste management after immersion.Kendriya Durga Puja Samiti (KDPS) president Achintam Gupta said, “The organisation’s zonal teams will randomly visit immersion points to assess measures by the district administration over the next two weeks.Around 350 Durga Puja samitis organise puja in the city, with idols immersed at alloted ghats on the Kharkai, Subernarekha, and Domuhani rivers.
