Kanpur: A 75-year-old woman and her 30-year-old daughter died after their mud house collapsed amid rain in Nawal village of Kanpur Dehat’s Maitha tehsil on Saturday night.Shanti Devi and her daughter Shalu were sleeping inside the house when it collapsed, burying them under the debris. Family members and nearby residents rushed to the spot after hearing the crash.Police officials and villagers carried out a rescue operation and pulled the two women from the debris after considerable effort, but they had already died.Shivli Kotwali in charge Amarendra Bahadur Singh said both bodies have been sent for postmortem and necessary action was being taken.
