Jammu, Sep 26: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana on Saturday visited Sunjwan as part of the “Jan Se Desh Seva” programme and interacted with children, students, teachers, Anganwadi workers and local women.
During his visit to the Anganwadi Centre at Chatta Morh, Khatana reviewed the facilities available for children and interacted with Anganwadi workers and women. He also tasted the nutritional food served at the centre and appreciated the workers’ efforts in child nutrition and early childhood care.
Khatana discussed welfare schemes including Mission Poshan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Ladli Beti and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), stressing the need for effective implementation so that benefits reach eligible families.
Later, he visited Government Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan, where he witnessed a drawing competition and cultural programme organised by students. He distributed certificates to participants who took part in competitions on themes including environment, Artificial Intelligence, space development, clean energy and DBT.
Appreciating the students’ creativity, Khatana encouraged them to remain abreast of developments in science and technology while pursuing education in mathematics, science and humanities.
He also stressed the importance of combining modern education and scientific thinking with traditional knowledge and skills.
Khatana said schools, Anganwadi centres and local communities play an important role in building a healthy and educated generation. He also appreciated teachers, Anganwadi workers and community members for their contribution to education and social development.
