Gurgaon: A 23-year-old woman was found dead at a paying guest accommodation in Islampur where she lived with her partner on Friday. Her family suspects that her live-in partner had killed her and hanged her body. Police, however, have questioned the man and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, which looks like a suicide.The woman was a native of Etah district in Uttar Pradesh and had been in a relationship with her partner, who also belongs to Etah, for several years. They had been living together at the PG, but she did not tell her family about it.Her sister, who also lives in the city, occasionally visited her but was unaware of the relationship. She told police that she had spoken to the woman on Thursday night and had no indication that anything was wrong.Police said her partner, who also works for a private company, left for work on Friday afternoon. He told investigators they did not quarrel. He said she had called him while he was at work, but he could not answer. When he called her back, she did not respond. He made several more calls, but there was no response.Worried, he contacted a neighbour and asked him to check on her. The neighbour then looked through the window and found her hanging, following which he informed the police.She was taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead. Her body was kept in the local mortuary for autopsy.Her mother has accused her live-in partner of killing her daughter and then hanging her body. The family has submitted a complaint to police, but no case has been registered so far.Police said a postmortem examination was conducted by a board of doctors on Saturday and the investigation is under way. They have not found a suicide note yet. Further action will be taken after the postmortem report is received, police said.
