Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has issued a Rs 5,000 bailable warrant against principal secretary, school education department, in contempt proceedings over the non-compliance of an earlier order relating to teachers of Mahatma Gandhi English-Medium and Vivekananda Model Schools.The order was passed Friday by Justice Anoop Singhi while hearing contempt petitions filed by Komal Rani Garg and Pradeep. The court directed that principal secretary’s presence be ensured on the next date of hearing, Oct 14.In Jan, the HC passed an order granting relief to teachers working in Mahatma Gandhi English-Medium and Vivekananda Model Schools in Jaipur.“The petitioners had been serving in these schools when the state govt announced the 2024 teacher recruitment process. They participated in the recruitment pursuant to an interim order of the HC and were subsequently selected after the recruitment and interview process. However, despite their selection, the teachers were not being relieved from their existing schools to enable them to join their newly allotted posts,” said Amir Khan, counsel for the petitioners.The petitioners subsequently approached HC alleging that the earlier directions had not been complied with and that no effective action had been taken to facilitate their release and joining at their newly selected posts.Khan said that the concerned authorities had not taken steps to comply with the court’s directions despite the order. “Notices issued to the Principal Secretary had been duly served, yet the officer neither appeared personally nor through an authorised counsel,” he argued.During the hearing, the counsel appearing for the state informed the court that he had received no instructions from principal secretary to appear on his behalf. The court also directed superintendent of police concerned to ensure service of the warrant.
