Udupi: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) put Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation at the centre of its World Tourism Day 2026 programme Friday, exploring how emerging technologies are shaping the future of tourism.The programme, themed ‘Digital agenda and Artificial Intelligence to redesign tourism’, highlighted the growing role of digital technologies and AI in transforming tourism experiences, services and engagement.Sharath K Rao, vice-chancellor, MAHE, was the chief guest and addressed the gathering. He emphasised the importance of embracing technological progress while preserving tourism’s cultural and human dimensions. “Education tourism is a key dimension of the evolving landscape, bringing together learning, cultural exchange and global exposure. He also underscored the role of international students in promoting cross-cultural understanding and strengthening global ties within the MAHE community.”Members of the international student community participated in the programme, which also covered AI, digital transformation, yoga tourism and cross-cultural engagement.A dedicated web portal for internationalisation was launched to improve access to information on international activities, student support services, collaborations and emerging opportunities.The event also launched the MAHE International football team, giving international students a platform to build camaraderie, teamwork, and cross-cultural connections through sport.
