Cuttack: The grand Dussehra immersion procession in Cuttack would be telecast live this year, allowing people like seniors and pregnant women to watch it from home.The district administration has made special arrangements for live coverage of the immersion, with the information and public relations department tasked with broadcasting the event.Dussehra will be celebrated on Oct 21, while the procession is scheduled for Oct 22.District collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde said, “The initiative would help people who cannot physically attend the procession due to age, health or other constraints.”“The procession is an important part of Cuttack’s Dussehra celebrations. Since many elderly people, pregnant women and others may not be able to come out and witness the procession, the live telecast would enable them to enjoy the event from the safety and comfort of their homes,” Shinde said.“The live telecast will be conducted from four different locations across the city to provide wider coverage of the procession till Devi Gada on the banks of Kathajodi. The telecast will be done on YouTube,” informed Shinde.Several cameras will be installed at strategic points along the immersion route to capture the movement of the tableaux and idols; a total of 168 pandals participate in the immersion, Shinde added.
