Bhubaneswar: A new set of gold ornaments would be made for Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra for their Suna Besha, Shree Jagannath Temple chief administrator Arabinda Kumar Padhee said on Saturday.Addressing mediapersons after Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee meeting chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb in Puri on Saturday, Padhee said the expenditure on new ornaments would be borne by SJTA. Devotees willing to contribute can also donate, he said, adding that SJTA has prepared a framework for the purpose.“During inventorisation of Ratna Bhandar, we had done digital documentation of Suna Besha ornaments kept in the Bahara Bhandar. We will use that information to craft the new set of ornaments. The management committee approved the proposal today and protocols to be followed would be framed by SJTA,” he said. A technical committee will be formed to oversee the process.It was also decided that Gundicha temple would open for devotees on Sept 30. Based on suggestions from servitors, entry will remain free for first three days after which a nominal fee of Rs 10 will be charged. Entry will remain free for senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities. A ramp has also been installed to facilitate access for PwD devotees.The managing committee will also study a model for the proposed dhadi darshan at Srimandir’s Natyamandap, developed by IIT-Bhubaneswar, before deciding on its implementation. A separate darshan facility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities will be introduced near Uttara Dwara.The meeting also reviewed welfare initiatives for servitors, including the proposed Adarsha Gurukul for their children. Padhee said construction has begun, with 850m of the proposed 1,300-m boundary wall completed. The committee discussed the school building, hostel and playground to be developed on the campus. OBCC will execute the work, with Bhumi Pujan scheduled in Nov.OBCC has also been asked to begin construction of the Raghunandan Library at the earliest.On the Shree Jagannath Temple Land Management Rules, 2026, recently notified by the state govt, Padhee said a special facilitation cell would be made operational at SJTA office to facilitate settlement of temple land and improve transparency and technology-driven efficiency.
