Patna: Madhubani police have identified four men allegedly seen assaulting a minor girl in a video that surfaced on social media and have formed a special team to arrest the accused. An FIR is being registered at Jaynagar police station, police said on Saturday.The video came to the notice of the district police’s Social Media Cell during routine monitoring on Saturday. Taking cognisance of the footage, SP Yogendra Kumar directed SP (Rural) Shivam Dhakar and Jaynagar SDPO Sadanand Kumar to verify the incident and initiate legal action.During the inquiry, the SDPO visited the girl’s village and spoke to her family members and neighbours. Police said the video was recorded around a month ago and was not linked to any recent incident.According to the preliminary investigation, the girl and a neighbouring boy, with whom she was allegedly in a relationship, were found together in a field. Police said some villagers allegedly assaulted the girl in the presence of her family.Family members told police that later the same day, the girl married the boy. The marriage was reportedly conducted with the consent of family members and local residents. Police said the girl is currently living with her in-laws in Nepal.Police said the four men seen allegedly assaulting the girl in the viral video have been identified. A special team has been formed and raids are underway to arrest them.
