Patna: Bihar Police has identified 3,177 suspected mule bank accounts allegedly linked to cybercrime as part of its ongoing Cyber PRAHAR-4.0 campaign, launched to trace cybercriminals and prevent the misuse of bank accounts for illegal transactions.The Cyber Crime and Security Unit (CCSU), Bihar, has so far verified 762 of the identified mule accounts. The verification process is being used to identify individuals suspected of being involved in cybercrime and trace their wider networks.Police have arrested seven cybercriminals allegedly involved in using mule accounts for cybercrime. Notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have also been issued to seven other suspected cybercriminals.The campaign has so far led to the registration of 15 FIRs in cases related to mule accounts. Technical investigations are being conducted based on these cases to trace the operation and users of the accounts, financial transactions and other individuals linked to the suspected cybercrime networks.CCSU is coordinating with cyber police stations across Bihar to monitor and verify suspected accounts and take timely legal action. Investigators are also examining the flow of money through bank accounts allegedly used in cybercrime.Through Cyber PRAHAR-4.0, Bihar Police is focusing on tracing the wider networks operating through mule accounts and taking action against those involved in cybercrime, while also working to prevent the misuse of banking channels for illegal fund transfers.
