Patna: A govt employee has accused Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and his supporters of assaulting him after a vehicle allegedly hit his motorcycle near the Gardanibagh protest site on Wednesday. Yadav’s supporters, however, claimed the employee damaged a convoy vehicle’s window glass, triggering the confrontation.Arvind Kumar, a welfare officer with the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe welfare department, lodged an FIR at Gardanibagh police station on Sept 23, naming Yadav and around 10 others. Kumar alleged that a black SUV in the convoy hit his motorcycle around 10am, injuring his leg. When he tried to stop the vehicle, several people allegedly confronted and assaulted him.He alleged that a man identified as Purushottam hit his head with a pistol butt, while Yadav struck his right hand with an iron rod. Another accused, Premchand, allegedly attacked him with an iron rod. Kumar also alleged that a gold chain weighing around two tolas was snatched during the assault.He claimed Yadav was present and that the assault took place at his direction. He escaped after Rajiv Ranjan Kumar, Prabhat Chandra Sharma and others reached the spot.SHO of Gardanibagh police station, Pramod Kumar, said, “We are investigating the matter. Further action will be taken according to the law.”
