When you are angry, you might feel strong, but it usually leaves a mess. A harsh answer may break the trust. A snap decision can create a problem that will last far longer than the argument. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 Verse 63 – Anger is such a bad thing?Krishna talks of a chain that begins in anger and ends in delusion. Delusions can impair your memory, your judgement and ultimately your ability to make good decisions. They teach more than good manners. It’s about keeping your cool when your emotions run hot.
Anger Can Change the Way You See the Situation
When you are angry, your mind becomes selective. You can see all their mistakes, everyone. In contrast, you may not see how you are part of the problem. A small argument can suddenly feel like proof that the whole relationship is wrong. This is exactly what Krishna says not to do. Before anger distorts your behaviour, it distorts your perception. You may think you are reacting to facts, but what you are really reacting to is a moody take on those facts.
The Real Damage Often Comes After the Trigger
Maybe the problem isn’t too big at first. It can seem that way when they get an angry comment, a slow reply, or careless behaviour. What follows often does more damage. When you’re angry, you send the message, yell, insult someone or decide something you wouldn’t have when you were calmer. And that’s why being angry can be worse than what made you angry. The trigger could be a long time ago. The effects of the reaction could last for months.
Anger Can Make You Forget What Matters
Emotions are difficult to concentrate on. You forget there were years of friendship before that fight. One bad experience can erase the good things you know about someone. If you try proving a point immediately at work, you might ruin your reputation. This is very similar to what Krishna taught about memory and judgement. When you’re angry, the immediate gratification seems more important than the long term. It can mean winning the argument is more important than keeping the relationship safe.
Pausing Is Not Weakness
It’s hard to take a pause when you think you’ve been wronged. But stopping before answering can keep you from saying something you can’t take back. It might be smarter to shut up while your emotions are escalating and walk away from the conversation for ten minutes. That is no way to get around the problem. But it’s still okay to be firm, to set boundaries, to say what hurt you. The difference is if the anger is setting the tone and setting the timing.
Krishna’s Warning Is About Losing Inner Control
In the Bhagavad Gita 2.63, it’s not just anger that is at risk. This is what anger does to your brain. Without clarity, it’s easier to make bad decisions.Krishna’s teachings remind us that strength doesn’t always mean reacting strongly. To be clear enough to know what to answer, what to restrict and what to leave unexpressed.
