Kolkata: Three passengers in an app cab reportedly assaulted the diver following a dispute over fare on Sunday morning.The incident took place around 6 am at Biharitola, also known as Bihari Para, under Anandapur Police Station.Police said the driver, Md Chand (25), a resident of Taltala Lane, picked up the passengers from the Park Street area in the vehicle, owned by his elder brother. Chand claimed the passengers had agreed to pay the fare—Rs 700—shown on the app. But on reaching Anandapur, Chand alleged, they refused to pay and said he was cheating them. This led to an argument, which soon turned violent.The three reportedly assaulted the driver and hit him on the head with a brick that they picked up from the road. As Chand collapsed to the ground, the accused fled, police said. He later managed to call his brother, who took him to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital.Based on Chand’s brother’s complaint at the Anandapur PS, a case was registered under BNS sections.
