Varanasi: A plumber has lodged an FIR at Shivpur police station against his wife, her father and brother, accusing them of threatening and insulting him and allegedly looting his cash and ornaments.In his complaint, the plumber said he supported his wife’s higher education and helped her secure selection as a constable in the excise department. However, after she got the government job, he alleged that she began insulting and threatening him, while she and her family members allegedly took away his cash and ornaments.Shivpur police station in charge Ajit Kumar Verma said a case was registered on Monday against a woman, her father and two brothers under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS on the complaint of Mata Prasad Yadav. Police started investigating the matter after the FIR was registered, he added.The FIR was registered after a Varanasi court directed Shivpur police to take up the complaint filed by Yadav, 40, of Chamaon in Shivpur.In his complaint, Yadav informed the court that he had studied only up to Class 10 and worked as a plumber to earn a livelihood. He said he married the accused woman in 2011. She had passed intermediate and wanted to continue her studies. Yadav claimed he supported her education and helped her complete BA, MA and BEd courses, besides arranging for her to prepare for competitive examinations. She later secured a post in the excise department and is presently posted in Prayagraj as a constable.Yadav alleged that after joining govt service, his wife began taunting him, saying he was not worthy of her. He claimed that disputes became frequent and that whenever he visited Prayagraj to meet their children, she refused to let him see them. He also alleged that she remained away from home for days without informing him.The complainant further alleged that on Jan 8, 2024, his wife came to his house with her brothers and took away Rs 48,000 from an almirah, along with a gold ring, chain and watch. He claimed they threatened him. When he complained to his father-in-law, he too allegedly abused and threatened him. Police have started an investigation under the court’s direction in the case.
