Sambalpur: Hundreds of students of Sri Ganesh Govt High School at Dhanupali staged a road blockade for more than an hour on Tuesday, protesting a prolonged power outage that has disrupted classes, drinking water supply and other basic facilities at the school.The school has reportedly been without electricity for the past four to five days, leaving students and teachers struggling amid intense heat and humidity. The outage has also affected water supply and disrupted the preparation and distribution of mid-day meals, students alleged.The situation has become particularly challenging as examinations are underway. “Without electricity, it has become very difficult to concentrate on studies during examinations,” the students said.Parents alleged that they had repeatedly brought the matter to the notice of electricity officials and the district’s education authorities but in vain.District education officer Laxman Bhoi said power supply to the school would be restored by Wednesday. He said all electricity bills had been cleared and attributed the disconnection to a misunderstanding between the school authorities and the power utility.
