GURGAON: A Faridabad workshop was raided by the Chief Minister’s Flying Squad on Sunday over alleged unauthorised bulletproofing of SUVs and MUVs, with two Toyota Fortuners and two Mahindra Scorpios seized.According to officials, the workshop was located near an ESSR petrol pump in Tigaon village. Acting on information received on September 20, a joint team of the Chief Minister’s Flying Squad, Faridabad, and Tigaon police inspected the premises.During the inspection, officials found that work on two of the Scorpios was almost complete, while modifications were underway on the other two vehicles.The workshop operator, identified as Pramod Kumar, a resident of Sector 3, Ballabgarh, was present when the joint team arrived.Officials questioned Kumar about the modifications being carried out at the workshop. According to an official involved in the inspection, he could not produce any valid permission or No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the work.Following the inspection, Tigaon police took all four vehicles into custody. Police said further action was being taken in accordance with the applicable procedure.The inspection was conducted to verify whether the workshop had the necessary authorisation to undertake such specialised modifications.An investigator said the matter was being examined and that a case would be registered after completion of the necessary procedure.Officials are also expected to examine documents relating to the four vehicles and the modifications carried out at the workshop as part of the ongoing proceedings.Notably, the use of bulletproof SUVs has also come into focus in Haryana recently.On Monday, six people had a narrow escape after unidentified assailants opened fire on a bulletproof Scorpio near the court complex in Gohana. Police said the vehicle bore two bullet impact marks on the window next to the driver’s seat, while another bullet struck and pierced the rear windshield. None of the occupants was injured.Gohana DCP Jitender Gehlot said one of the occupants, Ravinder, told police during questioning that the Scorpio had been purchased second-hand by his relative Rishi a few days earlier. Ravinder said they had decided to travel to court in the vehicle amid fears of a possible major incident.
