NOIDA: A day after a Mahindra Thar SUV rammed into a scooter in Greater Noida, killing a 40-year-old man and leaving his wife seriously injured, the woman’s family is now struggling with several lakh rupees in medical expenses as the SUV driver remains untraceable.As per the family, Neeraj, the deceased, was a Supreme Court lawyer.His wife, who suffered multiple fractures in the crash, continues to be treated at a hospital, according to her relatives.Her family members said they have already incurred medical bills running into several lakh rupees for her treatment.The accident took place on Monday in the Bisrakh police station area when the couple was travelling on a scooter and their vehicle collided with a Thar SUV.Neeraj, a resident of Chipiyana village in the Bisrakh area, and his wife were both injured in the collision. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Neeraj later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Police took the Thar SUV into custody and began efforts to trace the driver, who allegedly fled after the accident. He remains untraceable.Meanwhile, locals have claimed that four young men were inside the Thar when the accident occurred and said they were probably drunk. The claim has not been independently established.Police are expected to examine CCTV footage from the area and gather other evidence to determine how the collision took place and whether the SUV was being driven rashly or negligently.
