Srinagar, Sep 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) have finalised 7,580 selections since October 2024, the government said on Monday.
The information was provided in reply to an unstarred question in the Legislative Assembly raised by MLA Sajjad Gani Lone regarding selections finalised by the two recruitment agencies.
According to the government, JKPSC finalised 1,768 selections, while JKSSB completed 5,812 selections during the period, taking the combined total to 7,580.
The category-wise breakup of the JKPSC selections shows 855 selections under OM, 198 under SC, 166 under ST-1, 156 under ST-2, 114 under OBC, 65 under ALC/IB, 149 under RBA, 139 under EWS, four under PSP and six under the ST backlog category, totalling 1,852 selections.
For JKSSB, the category-wise figures include 5,173 OM, 1,104 SC, 1,248 ST-1, 1,212 ST-2, 933 OBC, 495 ALC/IB, 1,174 RBA and 1,079 EWS selections, totalling 12,418.
The government said figures shown against the direct quota also include posts already referred to recruiting agencies and posts advertised by the agencies for which selections are at various stages.
The reply also disclosed that 899 new posts have been created or sanctioned since October 16, 2024 across nine departments.
The highest number of newly created or sanctioned posts is in the Health and Medical Education Department at 485, followed by Housing and Urban Development with 266 and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs with 82.
Other departments include Jal Shakti with 43 posts, DMRRR with 16, Cooperative with three, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs with two, ARI & Trainings with one and Transport with one.
The government further said 27 posts in the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and 11 posts in the Culture Department had remained vacant for more than two years and were subsequently surrendered.
